Seahorse / Large
Found around NZ more abundant in southern waters. Males have the habit of pairing with the female and then carrying developing eggs and very small young in a special abdominal pouch. Must be A SNAG (sensitive new age guy!!)
NEWSFLASH! Recent scientific studies have disproved the popular theory that seahorses mate for life with one partner. It has been found in a recent study that they may partner with more than one partner and in some cases with the same sex. It was also found that cultural differences existed. The Australian seahorse had the most number of partners where as the English seahorse was more conservative and often only one. The Australian seahorse also had the larger belly than other seahorses and this proved to be the 'main attraction'!! |
